Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and committed postdoctoral research assistant to work with Dr. Alexander Jeans on synaptic dysfunction in mouse models of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Several lines of evidence suggest that deficits in cellular processes underlying neurotransmission may be critical in PD initiation and/or progression, and we study these processes in diverse transgenic and knockout mouse models of PD using a variety of optical imaging techniques to examine synaptic function in real time.

The successful applicant should hold, or be near completion of, a PhD/DPhil in a relevant discipline. S/He will be a strongly motivated scientist with excellent organizational, verbal and interpersonal skills who is able to work well as part of a research team. The post holder will require expertise in the preparation and maintenance of primary neuronal cultures as well as fluorescence microscopy and image analysis. Full training will be provided, although experience in these areas is an advantage.
