Postdoctoral Research Associate Position

Department of Bioengineering
Faculty Advisor: Assistant Professor Princess Imoukhuede
The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign is looking to fill a position at the Post-Doctoral Research Associate level in the research laboratory of Assistant Professor Princess Imoukhuede. This research laboratory employs quantitative molecular approaches to study tumor angiogenesis and vascular pathologies.
The hired Postdoc will be responsible for an independent, interdisciplinary project developing novel fluorescent markers to characterize endothelial cells in human breast cancer. Additionally, the hired Postdoc will be responsible for preparing publications from the research to be published in peer-reviewed journals. Some travel to scientific meetings to present research results will be required. The hired post-doc is expected to closely work with Assistant Professor Princess Imoukhuede in managing research activities in the lab and conduct experiments while assisting students with research.
The hired Postdoc for this position is expected to have a strong background in molecular biology, tissue culture, and biophotonics/optics, with an eagerness to develop new fluorescent imaging modalities. Candidates with computational modeling experience and a desire to work at the interface of molecular and systems biology are also encouraged to apply.
The hired Postdoc for this position must have earned a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Biophysics, Biology, or a related area before the date of joining and have at least 2-3 years experience in the following areas:
• Molecular Biology/Cloning
• Tissue Culture
• Confocal Microscopy
The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will have an opportunity to be involved in all of the above areas and will help grow the group within these and related areas.
