DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in experimental physics within the Otago Quantum Optics Group at the University of Otago, New Zealand. The group’s research is centered on rare-earth doped solids held at cryogenic temperatures.

The spectroscopy of the dopants in this situation is atom-like and present unique opportunities to the fields of quantum optics, quantum information and photonics. A number of projects are underway in these areas.

The Otago Quantum Optics Group (http://www.physics.otago.ac.nz/qo) group is part of the Jack Dodd Centre for Photonics and Ultra-Cold Atoms (http://www.physics.otago.ac.nz/jdc)

The University of Otago, New Zealand’s top-ranked university for research, is located in the centre of the scenic Otago province.

Successful candidates should have a PhD in Physics, and a demonstrated strength in one of the areas of high resolution spectroscopy, AMO physics, quantum optics or photonics. The appointment is for a period of up to two years.
